This bra is truly one of the (two, both handmade!) most stunning bras I’ve ever owned. It’s beauty lies in the simplicity of its components (bold gold-thread embroidery means, no bows necessary) and the complexity of the embroidered batik-esque print of the lace.
I made no changes to this bra, using the pattern as is. In retrospect, I think some changes should be made to the pattern to accommodate the fairly low stretch of the lace.
Normally, to save fabric (and because I’m obsessed with symmetry), I construct the bridge by splitting the bridge pattern piece in half, adding seam allowance at the center of the bridge, and cutting from the fabric twice so that I have two pattern pieces that mirror each other with the tiniest center seam in the bridge.
But this time, I thought I’d try something new, cutting the pattern piece as one unit and letting the fabric print do as it pleased. The cups are so bold in print that I felt like they would distract the eye from noticing the lack of symmetry in the bridge.
I’m so pleased with this lace that I purchased many yards more so that I can make this bra again whenever this one is no longer wearable. I’m so looking forward to making a matching panty for this beautiful bra. The photos simply do not do it justice!
