I never imagined a silver bra would make it into my all-time bra favorites list and yet…here we are.
I scored this beautiful fabric from an Etsy seller last year and initially, I didn’t know how I’d manage to use it, due to its super challenging pattern placement. Sewing this bra was truly a lesson in strategic pattern placement and cutting.
I cut the bridge in two halves that mirror each other due to the obvious lack of symmetry in the fabric itself. I also strategically cut the upper and lower cups so that a bit of the gray embroidery would sufficiently cover the breast apex, while simultaneously giving the illusion of one continuous strip of gray embroidery from the upper cup’s breast apex area to the lower cup.
The portion of the fabric with the silver embroidery and no black lace was so narrow, that there was just no way to cut these cups without the black lace in the silver embroidered area. Even the side of the frame and the area where it meets the cups was difficult to plan and cut. In the end though, I think it came out beautifully, but it was definitely one of the most challenging bras to cut…ever.
Honestly, this fabric is far more stunning in person and the fit is just wonderful (the mannequin truly doesn’t do it any justice). I normally don’t like silver, but this bra definitely made a believer out of me. 😍
I loved the end result so much that I ended up purchasing more of this fabric for future makes – and just in case I manage to wear out this bra!
