After much procrastination, I finally managed to wrap my head around the color red and finish off my first red piece of…anything: a red floral lace Harriet Bra.
An important lesson that I learned in this process is that to truly be motivated, I have to work with a fabric and color that I absolutely love. Red is a color that is quite alien to me. I don’t own anything in that color, and in recent memory I’ve yet to wear anything red. So it took a lot mentally to motivate myself to sew with this fabric, though I admit that it’s very pretty (and even prettier in person)!
This galloon was surprising on the body. It’s very snug and the scalloping isn’t as repetitive as most galloons, so it has a somewhat “organic” look on the body that’s really alluring.
I secured this lovely fabric from an online seller, so I wasn’t sure of what I was getting in the end, but it’s really a beautiful fabric. The lining, channeling and elastics were all sourced from different sellers whose items I had on hand in my stash. It wasn’t easy to mix and match to get the “brightness” of the red to match, but eventually I got there. ♥️
I love the Harriet bra and feel tempted to make another two just to make sure that I’m back in the swing of things with my fine sewing. But ultimately, the plan is to move to either a different bra pattern, draft my own, or resume my “regular” sewing. 💝
